Kindergarten 2026
We are excited to welcome our Kindergarten 2026 students to Wallsend Public School. We have a number of events to support children transitioning to school. These include Kinder Information Night being held on 28th October and 3 Kinder Orientation sessions commenicng 11th November. In addition, commencing in Term 2, we hold our Wrigglers School Readiness Program.  All students will commence school on Monday 2nd February 2026.
Wrigglers School Readiness Program

Wallsend Wrigglers is a weekly preschoolers transition to school program. Students enrolled to begin Kindergarten at Wallsend Public School the following year are invited to attend Wrigglers. Wrigglers runs for 2 hours once each week starting in Term 2 of the school year and is held in the school Library.

At Wrigglers, preschool students enjoy singing songs, and playing with a variety of toys and hands on activities, learning to share, take turns, and work alongside other students. Wrigglers are introduced to letter sounds and recognition following the Jolly Phonics letter sequence. They practice number recognition and counting through games and songs. Wrigglers are also introduced to school routines such as fruit break, toileting, lining up and packing their belongings into their bag.
